Bishop Thomas Wahome

A city bishop has denied sending explicit pictures to his church members on WhatsApp.

Helicopter of Christ Ministries’ Bishop Thomas Wahome  told The Nairobian that he has received calls from some of his church members asking him to stop sending the nude pictures and demanding tithe.

He claims the person behind the whole scheme is out to tarnish his name.

Bishop Wahome revealed that a month ago, he formed a WhatsApp group dubbed ‘Helicopter of Christ Ministries’ to make it easier to minister to his flock. He said that he later exited the messaging app, since he was not very conversant with it.

“I was the group’s administrator and I had more than 900 members. I wanted to use the platform to preach the gospel,” he said.

He claims that one of the members took over as the group’s administrator and has been sending explicit messages, nude pictures, as well as soliciting  for money from members.

“When I started receiving complaints from people and some members that they were receiving obscene materials from the group,  I was so shocked. I decided to carry out an investigation to get to the bottom of the matter. The culprit is attempting to tarnish my name and ministry,” he said. He added that, “Some of the messages reportedly sent via the group demanded that the recipients pay as much as Sh10,000  to check if their names are in the Book of Life.  Apart from the suggestive messages, some members said the administrator demanded cash for miracles and prayers.”

The bishop says he has reported the matter to police who are looking for the person behind the scam.
