A 52-year-old pastor was charged for assaulting his follower after a fight over bread.
William Kiema, a pastor at Shalom Ministries, was accused of beating and injuring Francis Mwinzi.
It is alleged that on September 29, Mwinzi bumped into Kiema at a shop near Njiru where he had gone to buy bread.
The court heard that after a small chitchat, Kiema allegedly snatched the bread from Mwinzi, demanding to know why he was eating a full loaf on his own, yet ‘the man of God was starving.’
An argument ensued and in the process, Kiema hit Mwinzi with a metal bar he was carrying.

“We struggled over the bread for a while and I overpowered him. He then hit me with a metal bar on my left foot,” Mwinzi told the court.
Kiema was arrested after the public called the police. He denied the charges and was set free on a Sh20,000 cash bail. His trial begins on January 22.
