Evidently multi-talented, Meme Hadhja a.k.a Mejja is proof that artistes can write, sing and act in their own videos. In many of his hits, Mejja is seen playing comical roles that have overtime seen him become popular both offline and online where people use his face for memes.

However it was not all fun and play for Mejja who was born and raised in Majengo slums, Nyeri. It was in his primary school days that he discovered his singing potential and he would present renditions of popular songs to his friends. Around the same time his brother Wambugu was also in love with the music and together they formed a group dubbed “ghetto clan”.

After years of trying to perfect their prowess, luck shined on them when the Celtel competition in search of the next musical stars toured Nyeri. In the quest to promote local talent, Celtel talent search sought to find 3 winners who would then battle it for the top prize and get mentorship on how to make music. Fortunately Mejja scooped position 2 and bagged himself Sh20,000.

It was during this time that Clemo of Ogopa deejays spotted Mejja’s prowess and mentored him into making great music. Together they worked on his first hit as Mejja also got the chance to work alongside top acts like Jua Cali. Overtime Mejja made his own hits including; Kwani Jana Kuliendaje, Niko poa, Quality Ka hizo featuring Pizzo Dizo, and most recently, Dabo Tap alongside the Kansoul.

With such a prowess in the sheng language, Mejja’s music has been able to traverse class, garnering him lots of fans, while his determination and work ethic has left fans impressed at his musical growth.

Evidently on the quest to become a better musical brand, Mejja has learnt from his mentors, it’s no wonder other upcoming artistes hope to learn from him and be the best too.
