The song “Lola” by Kenyan singer Nadia Mukami was inspired by the turbulent relationship of Tanzanian music giant Diamond Platnumz and his ex-lover Zari Hassan.

Speaking to Dizzim TV, Mukami disclosed that she drew her inspiration from how Diamond and Zari’s love affair blossomed before crumbling like a deck of cards under the shaky table of fame.

She explained that Lola mirrors how many couples struggle in life through thick and thin only to make it and inject toxic matter into their once blooming romance.

Ni ngoma ambayo inalezea kuhusu wapenzi wawili ambao walianza kuhustle pamoja lakini vile walipata mali na umaarufu alafu baadae ndio yule mwanume akafura kichwa. Akaona agh naweza madem wengine. Ni ngoma ambayo haihusu celebrities pekee yao tu, pia mwanachi wa kaawaida. Kwa sababu unaweza kuwa pia umehustle na mwanaume au mwanamke fulani alafu akakutoka,” said Mukami.

“Like Diamond and Zari?” Posed the presenter.

“Sitaki kusema iko hivyo kabisa lakini kama Diamond na Zari. Wajua story yao imekua ikitrend sana in Africa. Nikaona acha niweke story kama hio kwa sababu ina happen sana kwa macelebrities na watu wa kawaida. Sio wao tu, yeah” she responded.

Zari and Diamond

Despite parting ways on Valentine’s Day 2018, thunder from their acrimonious split continues to echo on their lives as they try to pick up the pieces.

A month ago, the Wasafi Classic Baby (WCB) CEO ripped open the wounds from his breakup.

Diamond claimed that she cheated on him with Nigerian superstar Peter Okoye of defunct music powerhouse P-Square.

He went on to allege that she also cheated with her gym trainer.

“Namheshimu Zari ni mzazi mwenzangu, alikuwa wife material. Alikuwa anataoka na Peter wa P- Square, niliwahi kukuta sms nikamuuliza…” he narrated to Wasafi FM.

A position vehemently refuted by the South Africa based Ugandan socialite who blasted the singer as a serial cheat.

“Let’s get a few things straight. I was about to sleep and people keep sending me voice notes about Nasibu and how he went on his radio tarnishing me. I’m just here thinking if you guys are going to believe a word coming from a man like him, the same guy who denied his own blood, then you are also stupid just like him,” posted Zari.
