United States: A newspaper delivery man was shocked to discover a teddy bear he picked up on the side of the road had a bomb stuffed inside.
Anthony Cannon found the toy along his route near Lattimore, North Carolina, on Thursday and when he picked it up for further inspection, a container fell out.
The 42-year-old decided to take the cylindrical item to his cousin’s house to have a closer look, without realising it was an improvised explosive device (IED)
‘If a kid had walked down the road and seen that bear, I’m pretty sure they would have picked it up,’ he said.
Mr Cannon became suspicious when he looked inside the container and saw a small, liquid-filled bottle covered with tape and wires.

He then put the device on the porch and called emergency services.
‘Within about two minutes of walking up, they said it was an IED and cleared us out of the house,’ he added.
The bomb was deactivated and then sent to be inspected by federal investigators.
Cleveland County sheriff Alan Norman said Mr Cannon was lucky not to have been seriously injured.
Another two explosive devices have been found in the same area in the past four years.
