The Kenya national union of teachers, KNUT, and the Kenya Union of
Post-Primary Education teachers, KUPPET, have sharply differed with
education Minister Professor Sam Ongeri on the effects of the march 4th
election date on education. Whereas Ongeri is of the view that
electioneering during the first term will not harm the quality of
education, the two teachers unions say the quality of education will be
adversely affected and want elections held in December since schools
will have closed in November under the 2012 revised term dates for
schools and colleges
