The military's highest ranking officer
today got a first-hand look at conditions and morale in the battlefield
several weeks after Kenya's entry into Southern Somalia. Chief of
Defence forces general Julius Karangi made a surprise visit to the front
line where he vowed his troops would defeat al shabaab. Meanwhile,
Kenyan jet fighters bombed two al shabaab camps killing at least 18
rebel fighters.
