Beach Volleyball Commission of Kenya Chairman Moses Mbuthia has said that Kenya's participation in the World Championships and the Commonwealth Games were among the commission's milestone events on the path to the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France

"We must put ourselves in the best shape possible ready for the Olympic Games qualifications," said Mbuthia in an interview.

The Kenyan team that compromised of captain Gaudencia Makokha and Brackcides Agala and coached by Salome Wanja participated in the World Championships in Rome, Italy and Commonwealth Games held in Birmingham, UK.

Mbuthia said the experience and exposure gained by the team need to be improved further.

"We need to start planning early for 2024 Olympic Games among other international events. We are at a level where we need to start posting good results," said Mbuthia.

Theo official further said the commission will have an elaborate program for the team after the conclusion of next month's World Championships, where Kenya is among the participating teams.

"The commission will engage the three beach volleyball coaches Sammy Mulinge, Patrick Owino and Wanjala to come up with a long term program for the team," said Mbuthia.

Mbuthia revealed that his commission will closely work with the ministry of xsports for funding.
"We need to have proper plans for the next two years and government's support is inevitable," he said. [Ernest Ndunda]
