Interior CS Fred Matiang’i on Wednesday warned all those who
are disobeying the curfew that the government will use force in order to save
lives.
Speaking at the Meteorological Department in Dagoretti, the
CS noted that a section of Kenyans was frustrating efforts of the Ministry of
Health by going about their business normally.
“We have been warned several times about our behavior
especially in certain estates in Nairobi and Mombasa.
“We are going to be forced to do certain things that we did
not want to do to secure the lives of our people,” he remarked.
Adding: “Some of us are very indisciplined. Look at what is
happening in Old Town (Mombasa). We have restrained ourselves from applying
force…the time has come for us to be very honest with each other and be firm.”

Over the weekend, Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho scolded
residents of Old Town for evading Coronavirus tests describing it as the
highest level of laziness and mediocrity.
A visibly furious Joho said the government had gone out of
its way to roll out mass testing yet most residents of the area were spreading
propaganda over the same.
“If you think you won't be tested, be ready. You will be
tested my friend. Now we are bringing it to your doorsteps and it is free,
there will come a time you will pay for it. So take advantage of this
opportunity and get tested," said Joho.
On Tuesday, Eastleigh recorded 29 new infections as the
country announced 45 cases.
Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said this was alarming and the
government was exploring ways to contain the spread of the virus in the densely
populated estate.
