Many
Kenyans are at home with nowhere to go and nothing to do. The coronavirus has
greatly affected our work-force.
Hopefully,
this text will help anyone who wants to earn while working at home. If an extra Sh8,000 a week can sort you out, then this is for you.
The method
of earning is called Transcription.
(At the
bottom, you will find an E-book that will guide you on opening your own account
and start working immediately)
Before I can illustrate how to make money with
Transcription, I would like to bring it to your attention that this is not a
get rich quick scheme. You will have to put in some effort to get a decent income.
Now, let's get down to how you can actually make this kind of money through
Transcription.

First, what
is Transcription?
Transcription
is basically the conversion of audio to text format by typing it out to word or
text format.
You get
paid to Transcribe interviews, meetings, and focus groups according to some
guidelines given by the network you are working for.
Companies
hire transcriptionists on a regular basis to transfer their digital copy into
written documents.
Once a
company hires you, they give you a transcription account. Transcription
accounts are networks/platforms where clients and transcribers are connected.
Basically, when a client needs his or her audio transcribed, they go to a
network, post a job, and now transcribers in the network can see the various
audios available.
There are
two types of transcription accounts.
1. Accounts
like Rev account, Focus Forward, and verbit. With this type of account, you
only need to do a test, and after you pass, you get access to their worklist.
An account like these means you'll be getting to have access to jobs 24/7
whenever you log in to your account. You can work whenever you want, wherever.
The accounts have dashboards with many jobs. When you log in, you just choose
audio and do it
2. The
second type of account is a bidding account. With this one, it’s a platform
filled with many clients who need their audios transcribed.
So, a
client posts a job, and you give a proposal on your terms for the job, and if
the client likes it, you get the job, and if you do a good one, that client is
yours to keep.
I recommend
having Account number 1 since there are always jobs, and those are the accounts
I will show you how to open in the free E-book at the end of this article.
Below is an example of such a company
As you can
see above, there are many audios that need transcribing. Jobs are always there
24/7 except late December.
The average
pay of a transcriber is Sh8,000 to Sh15,000 weekly, depending on where you're
getting your audios. This is because one is paid an average of Sh2,200 to
Sh3,500 to transcribe an audio hour, which takes you on average 8 hours to
finish.
Hence, an average of Sh2,200 per day depending
on your effort.
Most of the above companies pay weekly as you can see below.
For you to
start transcribing and getting paid, you will have to apply for an account that
involves a short test of fewer than 10 minutes. If you are accepted, you get
access to jobs on a regular basis.
If you
believe this is for you, you have to know that there some tips and tricks you
have to do to get approval in the accounts.
Success,
and remember to stay home, stay safe.
