After US president Donald Trump, on Thursday, added Huawei technology firm among the blacklisted companies that cannot trade with US firms, the message definitely sent jitters among the users and admirers of the second largest smartphone dealer company after Samsung.

While some of the people might be contemplating a contingency plan, just in case their Huawei device is rendered functionless on the key programs they have endeared themselves into, it is prudent to keep in mind the following facts before making an unnecessary move.

Here are six things Huawei users need to know;

· Holder of the current Huawei smartphones with google apps will continue to use and download app updates provided by Google.

· Google play and the security protections from google play continue to function on existing Huawei devices.

· Future versions of Huawei smartphones that run on Android will not have access to popular services, including Google Play Store Gmail and YouTube.

· Huawei has access to the free version of the Android operating system available through the open source license, known as the Android Open Source Project (AOSP).

· Huawei has been working on a contingency plan by developing its own technology in case it is blocked from using Android. The technology is already a function in China.

· The impact is minimal in China since most google mobile apps are banned there.
