A good number of Kenyans on Twitter applauded Deputy President’s William Ruto’s message on Wednesday 24 April 2019.

Through his Twitter handle, the Deputy President, who has in most occasions accused of giving huge contributions in church, said that they will continue to ‘worship Jehovah with our hearts and substance.’

“Since Sunday school we learned to kneel before and worship GOD that's the ONLY reason we stand before men. We will continue to worship JEHOVAH with our hearts and substance. We are unashamed of our God & unapologetic of our faith. We are Christians first other title after,” said Ruto.

His message comes days after Archbishop Jackson Ole Sapit of the Anglican Church of Kenya urged churches to stop ‘hyping’ the idea of guests of honour and harambees.

During his speech at the Serena Hotel on Tuesday, Sapit said that they (they church) have gone wrong by allowing corrupt leaders contribute harambee money adding that it’s a way of sanitizing them.

"Let us not hype this thing of harambees and guests of honour because that is where, as the church, we go wrong.

“If you are to come to worship, come with your resources. And let us, as the church, also learn to mobilise resources for our development agenda and do it quietly, not with the hype that takes us off the pulpit.

“Let us not allow harambee money to become a subtle way of sanitising corrupt leaders,” he said.

On the same issue, Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen on Tuesday also urged churches to ban sinners from giving tithes, offering and harambee donations.

“It will be great to see churches ban all harambees in church. It will be even greater to see them ban sinners from contributing tithes, offerings and harambee donations in church. Maybe then we shall truly say we are in Caanan or better still heaven on earth!” said Kipchumba.

Ruto’s message was commended by most twitter users and here's what some of them had to say;
