The wreckage of the car  in which five family members died in an accident on Nyeri-Nyahururu highway on Thursday. [Standard]

Five members of one family were on Thursday night killed in a  road accident along the Nyeri-Nyahururu highway.

The family was coming from a function in Nyeri when the accident happened at Kianugu area.

The personal car they were travelling in collided with a 14-seater matatu after their car got a tyre burst and rolled.

Occupants in the car among them two children, a man and two women died on the spot.

Other passengers were reffered to the Nyahururu County referral hospital with serious wounds.
