Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chair Wafula Chebukati has announced that repeat presidential elections will be postponed in Homa Bay, Migori, Kisumu and Siaya Counties.
According to reports, IEBC officials across Nyanza were
unable to transport and distribute election materials to polling stations for
the whole day.
In Kisumu County, Opposition supporters locked doors to classrooms where elections were meant to take place while in Homa Bay and Migori, access to polling stations was blocked.
Rowdy youth blocked transporting of election materials in these counties, prompting the IEBC to postpone the elections.
Kenyans on social media did not hold back as some wanted the election to be completed while others supported the IEBC’s decision.
