Thirdway Alliance Party Leader Dr Ekuru Aukot will be included in the ballot for the October 26th repeat presidential election, the High Court has ordered.
Aukot had filed the case after the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) announced that the repeat poll will only be a contest between Raila Odinga and Uhuru Kenyatta, seeking to be included in the poll.
The National Super Alliance flag bearer Raila Odinga withdrew from the presidential race on October 10th, saying that the IEBC had frustrated his push for reforms within the Commission. He said that the IEBC showed no intentions of responding to the coalition’s concerns.
The other reason why NASA withdrew from the presidential race was that of the proposed election laws amendments set to be tabled in Parliament.
Raila argues that the changes sought to favour Jubilee in the repeat election.
