As the Zambians were testing the Kenyan horses on the first day of the 21-Goal-Kenya International Championships, Tusker Malt defeated SBM Bank 5-4 at Nairobi Polo Club on Friday.

The Zambian ladies have been distributed in all the Kenyan teams same to the hosts before the final match on Saturday.

International Izzy Voorspuy led the Tusker Malt side when she scored four goals in the first, third and fourth chukkas as Niki Barlow scored another in the explosive match against the bankers.

Zambian international handicap 4 Emily Patterson who was playing for SBM Bank opened the scoring in the first chukka as Kenya international handicap 4 Tiva Gross returned a hattrick in the subsequent chukkas.

Patterson played alongside Natasha Tisminisezky and Michele Morgan for the bankers.

In their second match, Tusker Malt who substituted all her players secured a 6-4 win over Team 24.7 side of Nick Millar, Will Millar, Mike Mwirigi and Lochie Stichbury.

Will scored a double as Nick and Lochie had one each.

Tusker Malt made their scores through HP Singh who put through the ball four times while Simon Muchene and Jamie Excel had one each.

In the second match involving handicap 5 Zambian Sally Jellis playing alongside Kenyan players Meggan Griffiths, Cheza Millar and Silke Hampson led Tanqueray to a 4-3 win over Primarosa.

Jellis opened the scoring for her side in the first chukka before adding a double in the third chukka after Cheza had scored in the second chukka.

Zambian internationals Mary Jellis and Pammy Greenshields were in the Primarosa side that included Izzy Stichbury and Phyllipa Gulden.

Mary and Greenshields scored for their side as Stichbury added the other.
