Amani National Congress Party Leader Musalia Mudavadi is mourning. On his twitter account, the ANC Party leader confirmed the passing on of his step-mother Rosebella Mudavadi. 

“It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that I announce the death of mama Rosebella Mudavadi, widow of the late Hon Moses Mudavadi. My step-mother passed away on Wednesday, Nov 24, in Virginia, USA. May she Rest in Peace,” he said.  

Mama Rosebella Jerono Mudavadi breathed her last while undergoing treatment in Virginia,United States of America where she had been admitted for several months. It is barely a year since the family lost another matriarch of Mululu, Mama Hannah Mudavadi while undergoing treatment at Nairobi hospital, Nairobi.

Bck then, Mama Rosebella was in the USA for treatment and her condolence was relayed to mourners through her son Geofrey Kegode.

The political journey we walked in support of our late husband's career. We traversed Maragoli land, far and wide. We walked hand-in-hand and stood shoulder-to-shoulder, bearing the heavy responsibility of building a legacy," Mama Rosebella said in her condolence message at the funeral, read by her son Geoffrey Kegode.

President Uhuru Kennyatta led leaders in condoling with Mudavadi’s family. In his message, the head of state eulogized Mama Rosebella Mudavadi as a family matriarch, elder and leader whose contribution to Kenya’s progress over the years shall be dearly missed.

“It is with a pained heart and deep sorrow that I have been informed of the passing away of Mama Rosebella Mudavadi. The demise of Mama Rosebella is not only a big blow to the Mudavadi family but to the whole nation of Kenya considering her immense contribution to our country’s progress over the decades.

“Besides supporting her late husband’s long political career, Mama Rosebella was a successful grassroots leader, community mobiliser and mentor in her own right,” the President said.

ODM Party leader Raila Odinga also sent his condolences, wishing for family fortitude. 

“The family of the late Moses Budamba Mudavadi has today lost their remaining matriarch Mama Rosebella Mudavadi. We join the rest of the nation in condoling with Hon. Musalia Midavadi and the entire family for this big loss,” he said.

Other leaders who eulogized the late Rosebella are Vihiga senator George Khaniri and his Kakamega counterpart Cleophas Malala, Lurambi MP Titus Khamala, Vihiga Woman Representative Beatrice Adagala, Vihiga MP, Kagesi.

Rosebella Mudavadi was Mudavadi's second wife having met Moses Mudavadi while working as an education officer in the Rift Valley Province. She will be remembered for fighting for equality, serving humanity and raising vulnerable and underprivileged families in the society.
