Nairobi, Kenya: A man was shot and seriously injured as he tried to rescue a woman from muggers along Ngong Road.
The man jumped out of a matatu to help the woman who was being attacked by three men at about 9pm on Monday when he was shot in the stomach.
Police said a matatu driver headed for the CBD from Ngong Town witnessed the incident in which the thugs had pinned the woman down and were robbing her of her valuables.

Kilimani OCPD Peter Katam said the driver slowed down his vehicle and a passenger jumped out to rescue the victim.

"He did not know the attackers were armed and as he fought them, one shot him at close range before they escaped on foot with some valuables they had grabbed from the woman," said Mr Katam.
The gang escaped towards Kibera slums as the others passengers ran to help the injured man.
Katam said teh man was rushed to the nearby Nairobi Women's Hospital where he is admitted in stable condition.
