NYERI, KENYA: A man died while an MP from Nyeri escaped death narrowly, when his car collided head-on with another vehicle at Chania Bridge in Nyeri.
Mr Peter Weru, the Mathira MP was travelling towards King'ong'o area on Friday at around 11.30pm, when his vehicle collided with a pickup belonging to a Nyeri businessman identified as Macharia.
Weru, his driver and bodyguard suffered serious injuries, while the other victim died while undergoing treatment at the Outspan Hospital in Nyeri town.
And on Saturday morning, Weru was referred to Nairobi hospital for specialised treatment.

Mr Phillip Kihara Njau who witnessed the accident said he was travelling in a cab.
The wreckages of the MP's Toyota VX V8 car and the pickup truck were towed to Nyeri Police Station.
