Uasin Gishu, Kenya: Uasin Gishu Senator Isaac Melly has come under fire from assembly members over failure to attend advisory meetings since he was elected.
Assembly Speaker Isaac Terer said the senator has never attended the House's proceedings, yet he is a representative of the county in the Senate.
He said a number of legislations have been passed by the assembly without the senator bothering to find out how they will benefit residents.
"His seat at the assembly has been accumulating dust because he has never come here to know how and where the proceedings take place let alone provide advice on crucial laws," he said.
Terer insisted that although it is not mandatory for the senator to attend assembly meetings, it is only "good practice" that he does so.

"Melly has lost touch with the current ongoings in the assembly, yet he is charged with representation and oversight. He has not found time to even attend any informal sitting since his election last year," he stated.
The speaker said area Governor Jackson Mandago had attended their sittings twice.
