Defending champions Tusker moved top of the Football Kenya Federation Premier League standings after edging out visiting Wazito 2-0 in a rescheduled match played on Wednesday at Ruaraka Grounds.

Eric Otieno gave the brewers the lead after 12 minutes before Lwarence Luvanda ensured Tusker will go to the break leading 2-0 after striking in the 27th minute.

The win saw Robert Matano's charges leapfrog Gor Mahia at the top of the log on 54 points, one above the record Kenyan champions having both played 25 matches.

Wazito however have an uphill task of avoiding relegation as they remain second last on the log with 13 points from 25 matches.

Speaking after the win, Matano said the job is not yet done as they have nine matches left to play until the end of the season.

"Because we are on top of the table doesn't mean we have won the Premier League title. We still have a long way to go and focus remains taking each game at a time. However, we want to defend our title and we will domit smartly," said Matano.

In Kakamega, Kenya Police bounced back to winning ways after thrashing bottom-placed Vihiga Bullets 4-0 at Bukhungu Stadium.
