Defending champions Tusker on Saturday narrowly saw off Kenya Police 1-0 at Nyayo Stadium in the only Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League match played on Saturday.

Shaphan Siwa's goal in the 69th minute was enough to hand the brewers all three points as they continue with their fight to dislodge leaders Gor Mahia.

The slim win over the Police saw the Brewers avenge their 3-0 loss to the law enforcers in the first leg held on January 28.

The Robert Matano led side cut their gap between them and Gor to one point after their win with 10 matches left untill the end of the 2022-2023 season.

Gor, who face Posta Rangers on Sunday at the same venue sit top with 52 points while Tusker are second with 51 points after 24 matches.

Tusker are now unbeaten in 10 league matches. Police are fifth with 40 points from 23 matches.

"Our target now is to pick as much points as possible because we have now entered a crucial stage in our bid to retain the title. We are currently playing well and our goal is to keep winning and playing better every time we are on the field," said Matano after the match.

Seven matches will be on the cards on Sunday.
