Kenya Ports Authority men’s rose from lukewarm start in the tournament to win their second match in the Fiba Zone Five Basketball Club Championships at the National Indoor Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The dockers won to revive their hopes of making to the final after they beat EWSA of Ethiopia 85-50. KPA, who lost their opening match39-56 to APR of Rwanda, dictated the proceedings from the first quarter which they won 18-15.
In the second quarter, the Ethiopian side went down 24-14 before losing 28-6 in the third quarter. They resumed the fourth quarter with renewed determination and forced a 15-15 stalemate but KPA had garnered enough points in the last three quarters to win the match.
KPA’s James Mwangi emerged the highest scorer with 19 points followed by Victor Bosire who amassed 13 points. EWSA highest scorer was Omod Pangi with 19 points. KPA men side were due to play Cobra of South Sudan in match three later yesterday while their women team had a free day.
