Upcoming athletes in Bungoma County failed to impress at the regional athletics championships over local leadership wrangles.
Former half marathon champion and a 5,000m specialist, Shem Kororia, claims some Athletics Kenya officials in the area played underhand tactics to lock out athletes from Mt Elgon.
“We have been denied access to key meetings and starved of funds that could facilitate our athletes to participate in major competitions,” said Kororia, the chairman of Athletics Kenya Mt Elgon region.
“We advise them (AK Mt Elgon branch) to channel their issues to the national office for advise,” said AK Vice President Jack Tuwei. —Jonathan Komen
