At least 19,000 needy students will benefit from Sh114 million worth of bursaries from the county government.
Bureti sub-county schools will get the lion's share of Sh23.8 million followed by Ainamoi constituency with Sh20.4 million and Belgut constituency Sh17 million.
Kipkelion East, Kipkelion West, and Soin/Sigowet constituencies will each get Sh13.7 million. Speaking at Tebesonik Secondary School when he gave out bursary cheques to Bureti constituency secondary school heads, Governor Paul Chepkwony explained that the money was allocated according to the number of wards in each constituency. Prof Chepkwony (pictured), said his government puts a lot of emphasis on education.
"In my administration's philosophy and vision, education is key and I am ready to receive suggestions from all stakeholders," he said.
The governor promised to empower young people by hiring them to build roads.

"In the second phase of the road construction projects, we are not going to use single contractors but youth groups. If a road is allocated Sh20 million, the area youths will be utilised in the project," he said.
