There is renewed tension in Ol Moran, Laikipia County after an armed gang attacked residents on Tuesday night and made away with their properties.
More than 10 armed men raided five homes of elderly women aged between 65 and 80, terrorised them and broke into nearby shops, making away with goods of unknown value.
County woman representative Jane Apollos and Ol Moran MCA Jacob Edung condemned the incident after visiting the affected families.
Rising insecurity
“This is a sad case as they even wanted to rape the women. Cases of insecurity have been occurring almost on a daily basis for the last two weeks,” Edung said.

He said hundreds of families have fled the area with their livestock for fear of attacks, adding that the raiders are suspected to be from the neighbouring Baringo County.
Apollos asked the government to deploy security personnel to quell the violence.
“This is a shame. We demand immediate solution from the government,” she said.
However, County Commissioner Wilson Wanyaga said already security personnel has been deployed in the area.
