The fate of 11 members of the Taita-Taveta County Assembly allied to ODM who were grilled yesterday for skipping a consultative meeting a fortnight ago now lies with the party's leadership.

The MCAs and ODM Acting branch chairman Ginton Mwachofi were grilled by the party's disciplinary committee led by Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna at the Orange House yesterday.

Those who faced the disciplinary committee included County Assembly Majority Leader Harris Keke, his deputy Abraham Juma and Chief Whip Godfrey Mwambi among others.

“We resolved to end unnecessary wrangles and strive to strengthen the party ahead of the next General Election,” said Mwatate MCA Abednego Mwanjala.

Earlier, the party chairman John Mbadi had given the 11 MCAs seven days to explain why they should not be disciplined for skipping the meeting.

And yesterday they the committee that they failed to attend the meeting because they were on self-quarantine after three staff members of the Assembly tested Covid-19 positive.

Sifuna said the party leader will advise on any action the against the MCAs.
