In May, the National Gender and Equality Commission, (NGEC) advertised a logo design competition and promised cash prizes for the top three participants.
This prompted Mr William Acholla Otieno to try his luck. After several days of cracking his head, he came up with what he thought was a near-perfect logo; seven outstretched hands inside the Kenyan map, which he submitted to NGEC.
However, after waiting in vain for communication from the commission, he concluded that his entry did not satisfy the selection panel. Something in The Standard jolted him last Friday. NGEC had a new logo.
The logo, unlike his, had five outstretched hands, placed atop initials and commission’s name. On the same page, the Secretary cum CEO of the commission Dr Rose Odhiambo hailed NGEC’s design team developing the logo.

While, he doesn’t want to make a conclusion yet, he suspects that the element of outstretched hands was ‘borrowed’ from him. He wants the NGEC to prove him wrong by making public the three winners and their entries. He can be contacted on 0717589107.
