Jamaica dancehall new sensation Denyque Dontre and Kareem Dawkins aka QQ jet in tomorrow morning. The two arrive in the country four days ahead of their Saturday performance at the Carnivore grounds where they will be the star attraction during this year’s Chaguo La Teeniez (CHAT) Awards.

"Denyque and QQ are very excited about coming to Nairobi. They said they would like to visit the Nairobi National Park to see lions.

They also want to visit the national museums. It will be a whole week of adventure and fun with their fans," a source from Insyder, the awards organisers, told MondayBlues.

Youngest star in Jamaica

Denyque, a 20-year-old beauty — who is popular for her hit singles Summer Love and Hooked on Me — will be accompanied by her manager while QQ, the Skip To My Lou and RumRam hit maker will be flying in with his father.

"On Wednesday, the Jamaicans will be at Nakumatt Lifestyle on a meet and greet fans outing. They will then proceed to the Catholic University on Thursday to attend the ongoing Kenya Schools and Colleges National Drama Festival," noted our source.

Besides, they will also have lunch with selected fans the same day. After winning several medals in Jamaica National Festival song competitions at 11 and 12 years of age, Denyque went on to be a straight "A" student when attending the prestigious Belair High School in Mandeville, Jamaica.

After graduating with honours in 2008, financial restrictions kept her from accepting a scholarship to Berklee School of Music in Boston in the same year, but Denyque still couldn’t resist her calling to music and decided to keep following her passion.

At 10-years-old, singing sensation QQ set a record as the youngest person in Jamaica to have a hit song, Poverty.

Apart from being an anthem in the dancehalls, Poverty has been climbing the charts and dominating the airwaves in both Jamaica and England with its food-for-thought lyrics.
