Farmers in India arrested after drunk buffalo herd blow lid on hidden liquor

Three Indian farmers are in trouble after their buffaloes (yes, they keep such animals under domestic care), blew their horn to alert police about their clandestine brewery.

This is an exaggeration, of course, but production and sale of liquor in Gujarat, the home state of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is prohibited.

But since the three farmers have creative streaks, they found a way to make some liquor - by hiding it in water troughs where the animals drink.

Well, that’s hitting two birds with one stone: the drinks would stay cool without refrigeration, while remaining safely out of view of the long arm of the law.

But when the buffaloes started “behaving funny” and frothing at the mouth, one farmer called a vet who sought to confirm the source of the animals’ contamination.

He found the water trough “smelling strangely.” It turned out some bottles had broken and released some booze for the buffaloes to drink their fill.

The vet rang the police.

Obviously, the farmers have learnt a thing or two about buffaloes, key among them, their behaviour isn’t any different from inebriated humans: they all froth at the mouth and could land you in serious problems with the law.
