Homa Bay County Government has suffered a major blow following the deaths of the County Public Service Board secretary and chaplain.
Secretary Agnes Makdwalo and Chaplain, Pastor Tom Muombo passed on Sunday morning at different hospitals in Nairobi while undergoing treatment.
Governor Cyprian Awiti Sunday described the demise of the officials as a setback to his administration.
"I am shocked beyond words. The senior officials' contributions helped move this county forward. Pastor Muombo had become a great provider of spiritual nourishment to the county, while Ms Makdwalo effectively handled the county's human resource needs," said Awiti.
Pastor Muombo died at a time when he was about to be airlifted to India for specialised cancer treatment.
