Former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairman Wafula Chebukati has congratulated his wife Mary Wanyonyi after her swearing-in as the Commission on Revenue Allocation (CRA) chairperson.

Chebukati through his Twitter account commended his wife for her new role, reminding her to serve the law with utmost loyalty using undoubted skills.

"Congratulations Mary on your appointment as Chairperson of the Commission on Revenue Allocation @CRAKenya! Your dedication and expertise will undoubtedly contribute to the Mandate of the CRA and prosperity for all Kenyans," Chebukati said in a Tweet on Monday.

"Keep your fidelity to the Constitution and the Law. Wishing you great success in this important role."

She was sworn in by Chief Justice Martha Koome on July 17, at Supreme Court.

She was appointed by President William Ruto on May 23 and her name was forwarded to the National Assembly for approval.

She was given the nod to serve in CRA by National Assembly's Departmental Committee on Finance and National Planning on June 29, 2023.

She will take over the office from Jane Kiringai who retired on February 2023 and will serve in the position for six years.

She is a Certified Accountant and certified mediator who also hold a master's degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor's of Commerce (Accounting).

Wanyonyi has over 30 years of experience in accounting and before her appointment, she was serving as the Senior Deputy Accountant General and Head of the Accounting Unit in the Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development.
