Police in Kasarani are holding a 33-year-old businessman to help with investigations into the murder of his 41-year-old lover.

Police said the trader is wanted in Nyahururu for the murder of Hellen Gathoni Njoroge who is said to have been killed in her house and later her body moved to the suspect's house and set ablaze.

On Tuesday, Ndaragwa police stormed into a homestead of the suspect where they managed to recover a motor vehicle owned by the deceased.

It is also in the same compound that the investigators managed to recover the charred remains of Gathoni from one of the bedrooms.

Gathoni had earlier been reported kidnapped at the same police station.

A report from Nyandarua Police Station on the incident said police had earlier visited the house of the deceased also in Pesi and witnessed the horrific signs of her murder.

According to the investigators, crime scene personnel witnessed traces of blood on the walls of Gathoni's house.

Blood stains were observed on the walls leading to the kitchen and bathroom and bedroom of her house.

The blood stains finally ended in the bathroom where the investigators now believe Gathoni died before her body was loaded into her car and moved into the suspect's home. It is in the suspect's house that Gathoni's body was set alight.

Police said they have managed to recover a five-litre jerrican of petrol in the suspect's house. A vehicle belonging to Gathoni was also recovered in the same homestead.

Police believe the vehicle was used to ferry the body from her home (Gathoni's) home to the suspects house in Pesi.

Kasarani DCI boss Vincent Kipkorir told The Standard the suspect would be moved to Ndaragua Police Station.
