Sonko’s surprise visit to Raila’s office
Reports of a visit by former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko (pictured) to ODM leader Raila Odinga's Capitol Hill office yesterday has set tongues wagging.
The impeached governor is said to have unsuccessfully sought audience with the former premier who was holding a meeting with representatives of Githurai traders.
Sonko’s visit comes against the backdrop of his bitter fallout with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Reports indicate that Sonko was told to wait for the ODM leader to conclude the meeting but got impatient and left.
Raila’s spokesperson Dennis Onyango yesterday confirmed that Sonko went to Capitol Hill but did not meet Raila.
“It is true Sonko came to Capitol Hill, pushed his way past the gate wanting to see the PM, who was in a meeting with representatives of Githurai traders,” said Onyango.
“The PM was not expecting him and did not see him. We don’t know what his (Sonko) agenda was,” he said.
But in a post to a Facebook account, believed to be run by Sonko, it was claimed that the meeting was called by Raila through a phone call the previous day.
The post said there was a meeting with two lawmakers allied to Raila but did not confirm physically meeting the former premier.
Sonko has in the recent past engaged in a social media war with Uhuru after the president admitted initiating his ouster. He has since aligned himself with Deputy President William Ruto, attending political functions which he has used to hit back at his detractors.
Sonko’s spokesperson Ben Mulwa refuted claims that the impeached governor was at Capitol Hill yesterday.
“I am not aware whether the governor [sic] was at Capitol Hill today. I have been in court all day but let me find out and get back to you,” said Mulwa.
His sentiments were echoed by Elkana Jacob- an aide to Sonko. “I'm not aware of such developments,” said Elkana.
He also dismissed the social media post, saying the governor has only one verified account.
