CID officer shoots himself dead in Embakasi

A CID officer based at Embakasi Monday shot himself dead at Nyayo estate after firing indiscriminately at neighbours.

The officer is said to have quarrelled with his wife. The wife and their two kids fled when they sensed danger after the deceased officer tried to shoot them.

Embakasi OCPD Apolo Wanyonyi said no one else was injured during the incident as residents took cover.

The motive of the occurrence is being investigated though the deceased is said to have left a suicide note.

Cases of disciplined forces officers turning the gun on themselves have been on the rise.
