Co-operative Bank of Kenya Managing Director Gideon Muriuki has been honoured with the award of First Class Chief of the Order of the Burning Spear (CBS) decoration in this year’s roll of Presidential Honours and Awards.
Mr Muriuki has for the past 16 years dedicated substantial resources to strengthen Kenya’s co-operative movement.
He has previously been decorated with Order of Grand Warrior in 2005 and Moran of the Order of the Burning Spear in 2011.
Co-op Bank said its role will get enhanced as President Uhuru Kenyatta announced that coffee and other commodities will not be exported raw but must first be processed locally to avoid exploitation of farmers.
