The answer finally came on Wednesday when police revealed that Latulip was alive and well, living just 80 miles away from where he disappeared.
Now 50, he had a sudden flash on memory in January and told a social worker who he was.
A DNA test confirmed the discovery last week.
Mrs Wilson told CTV News she had not yet spoken to her son but was overwhelmed to know he was alive.

Waterloo regional police believe Latulip suffered some sort of head injury which caused him to lose his memory.
Detective Duane Gingerich told CTV News: "It’s the only case, that I know of, where we’ve been able to find someone who has been missing for this period of time."
