Besides clean treated water harnessed from Kiambere dam, Mwingi is home to the Ideal Palace Hotel famed for its Kamba traditional music and dances. Kilumi is one popular performance that thrills guests as they sip drinks or tear into succulent goat ribs.

As the name suggests, the hotel is located a short distance off the busy Thika-Garissa highway.
