Opinions have been divided since former Justice Minister Martha Karua quit office a week ago.

Supporters have since labelled her as a ‘reformist extraordinaire’ and a ‘dare devil’ who trod where others feared. However, I differ with these sentiments.

If the rot in our legal systems is as deep as Karua says it is, she cannot escape blame because she has been line minister for years.

Karua has shown to be the typical Kenyan politician who sees no evil or speaks of any until their relevance ends, then their subdued ‘patriotism is unleashed’.

Welcome to the backbench, Karua. The people of Gichugu never voted for a minister but a legislator to safeguard their welfare. You now have the time to move around the country and garner support for State House come 2012.
