Shock and grief engulfed Mambroukie village in Limuru after a father strangled his son before committing suicide.
Davis Ongopa, 34, a casual labourer at Mambroukie Tea Estate and Factory, left a suicide note asking his widow to take care of the other three children after he was gone.
According to his 31-year-old wife Dorcas Ongopa, she left for work leaving her husband with their six-year-old son John Ogutu in the house. But when she returned in the evening, she found her son lying dead on a bed and her husband’s body hanging from the roof.
“I left for the farm in the morning and left him (husband) with the children. But when I returned, I found the two of them dead and I do not understand why he did this,” the grieving widow said. The matter was reported at Tigoni Police Station.
