Nairobi, Kenya: Two female thugs raided a jewelry shop in the Central Business District in Nairobi on Tuesday afternoon and robbed attendants of jewelry valued at Sh250,000.

The two had posed as customers of the shop along Standard Street before they were joined by a man at about 3.45 pm.

Shop attendants said the two knocked the door before it was opened while posing as customers. They were then joined by one gunman who drew out a pistol.

They then ordered all those present in the shop to lie down before they grabbed jewelry and cash and loaded them into a bag, said an attendant there.

Central OCPD Fredrick Lai said the gang then ordered a manager to open the CCTV recording room where they confiscated the recorded events of their activities.

“They ordered the managers there to open the CCTV recording area where they grabbed the recorded events and left with them,” said another attendant.

The gang later escaped without injuring anyone and none has been arrested so far. Police say they are hunting down the gang, which is notorious in the crime.

“One of the women is notorious and has been captured in many scenes in the city. We hope to get her,” said a senior officer aware of the incident.

Cases of attacks on shops at day time in the CBD have been low in the recent past due to increased police patrols.
