Award-winning singer and songwriter Nikita Kering has sparked controversy after wiping clean all her Instagram posts, leaving only one.
In her lone remaining post, the Ex hitmaker opened up about her struggle with perfectionism, suggesting that a new chapter might be on the horizon.
"I'm just gonna not be perfect," she wrote. "I wrote a song that is so vulnerable. I think the one thing that has been holding me back from being the artist I really want to be is seeking this perfection that is so unattainable - making such beautiful art and never releasing it."
The post also includes a video snippet in which she previews a section of the unreleased song. However, she has yet to share further details about the track or what the transformation entails.
Her actions mirror those of content creator Muchiri Mike's recent social media reset.
In the comments section, fans and celebrities alike urged Kering to release the full version, showering her with praise and encouragement.
@carriewahu commented, "You're doing amazing, gorg! Please drop this, wow!"
@teminasemo added, "Why am I crying? Release it, please - it's so beautiful."
@neemalukakha said, "Hi Chumba, that is beautiful. Please complete it. It's mellow, nicely done, and just feels like home."
Amid ongoing speculation about her relationship with rapper Lil Maina, the Nakam sai hitmaker addressed the rumours last year, describing Kering as his "closest colleague" during a Q&A session on Instagram Stories.
He also referred to her as his celebrity crush, leaving fans even more curious due to the duo's previous online collaborations and frequent appearances together.
Kering continues to make waves in the music industry with her powerful vocals and emotive performances.
She rose to fame as a teenager following a standout performance at Mr Eazi's EmPawa Africa masterclass, later releasing her debut EP A Side of Me in 2021, which featured hits like Ex and Never Let You Go.
Her soulful fusion of R&B, Afro-pop, and soul has earned her multiple accolades, including two AFRIMA awards in 2021 for Best Female Artist in Eastern Africa and Best R&B and Soul Artist.
A former student of Brookhouse International School, Kering later pursued music studies in the UK and was featured in Forbes Africa 30 Under 30 in 2022.
