A man who feasted on a meal at a Java House, Kimathi Street and tried to run away without paying has been freed after a day in custody.
A remorseful Michael Masinza, after painfully learning there is no such thing as free lunch, tickled the court when he apologised, saying: "Your honour, I am stupid and request to be pardoned".

The 20-year-old was arraigned at a Milimani court and accused that on December 16, he incurred a debt of Sh1,310 by pretending he was in a position to pay.
He had ordered for mango juice, roast chicken and chips, which he wolfed and tried to escape.

According to the prosecutor, the waiters pursued him before he was arrested and booked at Central police station.
