A woman shocked residents of a village in Kirinyaga County when she bit off the ear of a drunk man who tried to kiss her teenage daughter.

The 33-year-old woman who sells illicit brew made from yeast, molasses and sugar - locally known as makabo - had befriended the man after he sold a piece of land, transforming into an overnight village star with his new-found generosity.

Referred to by customers as Mama Pima Mkali due to her strictness when dealing with inebriated and rowdy customers, her liquor den is a favourite.

She has been in the business for the last three years after she divorced her husband of over ten years, but unlike most women engaged in liquor brewing, she has maintained her decorum by turning off most of the men who express interest in her.

But it was a different case for Kinyua, the 'loaded' man who had pocketed over Sh1 million from the sale of a piece of land.

When Kinyua 'sponsored' his friends to days of partaking the brew at her den, he ended up befriending her.

When she closed her business, they would take a taxi to the nearby Mwea town where they would treat themselves to expensive alcohol and food and retire into comfortable hotel rooms for the night.

When the flow of money started dwindling and he could no longer afford nights at the best guest houses, she would let him sleep at her house.

Trouble however started when Mama Pima’s daughter closed school last week and Kinyua shifted focus to her.

He would bring her presents and try to sweet talk her but she always repulsed his moves.

Early last Saturday when the woman was at the den serving alcohol, Kinyua stole his way to the main house where he offered the girl Sh1,000 and was about to kiss her.

Incidentally, her mother overcame by suspicion had followed him and when she saw the man’s attempts, she jumped on him and bit his ear.

Half of his ear lobe fell to the ground as he screamed in agony.

The woman rushed to a water tap at her neighbour’s compound where she washed off the blood from her mouth as other drunks and neighbours took Kinyua to a nearby dispensary for treatment.

The woman has gone into hiding fearing arrest by police.
