On April 1, fans were shocked after TV actress Pratyusha Banerjee allegedly committed suicide.
Best known for her portrayal of Anandi in the popular TV series, Balika Vadhu, she was found hanging at her Goregaon residence.
Her boyfriend, Rahul Raj Singh, found her body hanging from the ceiling at 5pm after which he rushed her to Kokilaben Ambani Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Statements from her close friends and co-actors suggest that the starlet was in an unhappy and abusive relationship with her boyfriend.
The police are currently recording statements from friends and are trying to put together the sequence of events leading to her death.
They are also examining Pratyusha’s cellphone to find out whom she spoke to on Friday, said investigating officers.
Apart from Balika Vadhu, Pratyusha also starred in several TV shows, including a season of reality show Bigg Boss.
Last year, she announced her relationship with fellow actor Rahul Raj Singh and the couple was set to tie the knot.
They also featured together in another reality show Power Couple. The police are investigating whether there was any problem between the couple. Mr Singh’s statement will also be recorded, said officials.
