A woman accused of killing her two children in Mwiki had asked neighbours to bury her in the same coffin with her children.

The woman going by the name of Nduta, who worked as a barmaid reportedly murdered her two children aged seven and two years by slitting their throats.

The accused is said to have then stabbed herself in the neck and stomach in an attempt to commit suicide.

It is reported that the accused had written a suicide note saying that she had had enough of her husband.

Nduta’s note reportedly instructed friends and relatives to bury her in the same coffin with her two children and directed that the bodies be taken to St Francis Hospital, where she claimed she had delivered her children. Relatives told police that they found bed sheets tied around the children’s necks, an indication that she may have strangled them to keep them from raising the alarm.

Neighbours said they noticed blood flowing from under the accused’s door, forcing them to break into the house. Nduta was rushed to Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital where she was treated and handed to police.

The matter will be heard on November 9, 2015.
