Fwaro Makokha Robinson, the boy who topped the 2022 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams is edging closer to achieving his dream of becoming a software engineer after joining Alliance High School.

Makokha, a pupil at Christ the King Academy in Bungoma topped the 2022 class with 431 marks, earning sponsorship from education technologies firm Kodris Africa.

Excited to be at Alliance, Makokha expressed his gratitude upon setting foot at the school last Monday.

"I'm thrilled to be here. I've heard a lot about Alliance, but now I'm finally here in person. I love the environment and my new uniform gives me the motivation to chase my dream of becoming a Software Engineer. I want to thank Kodris Africa for their support. I know I will succeed," he said.

Alliance High School Principal David K Chomba who welcomed the top performer after baptising him Kenya One said: "We are delighted to admit this young man, who will be joining others pursuing similar dreams."

Accompanied by his father, David Fwaro and grandfather Denis Makhoha, Makokha was visibly overwhelmed at the sight of his new environment where he will stay for the next four years.

He flew to Nairobi from Kisumu after his air ticket was paid for by Bumula MP Jack Wamboka.

Makokha was one of the bright lucky students after his interest in software engineering was highlighted by The Standard. Following the story, Kodris Africa expressed interest in sponsoring his education. Kodris Africa will cover all of Makokha's school fees, a laptop, coding resources, and other tools.

"We saw on the news that Makokha aspired to become a software engineer. Coding is the skill that he needs to achieve his dream," Kodris Africa Chief Executive Officer Mugumo Munene said.
