Lupita celebrates her birthday as ‘queen’

Remember the classic movie, Coming to America?

Well, that was Lupita’s inspiration for her 34th birthday which was quite a star-studded event.

Lupita and her Black Panther co-star, Danai Gurira, threw a joint birthday over the weekend in honour of their 34th and 39th big days respectively. Perhaps in celebration of their roots, the theme to mark the occasion was Coming to America — Eddie Murphy’s instant classic 1988 comedy.

All dressed up like the different characters and with telling captions like ‘Wakandans In Zamunda’, Lupita and other black African actors seem to have been all ready to recreate the movie and the sure did snap all the moments.

This comes after singer Beyonce went on to wear a green Gucci gown to the Beauty and the Beast premiere that was coincidentally similar to the one Lupita wore at Cannes two years earlier. Beyonce has also been known to promote the African culture and it seems that these stars may have much more in common.
