NAIROBI, KENYA: Police are holding more than 100 suspects, among them 11 Congolese nationals following an operation that was launched to flush out mungiki suspects in Kitengela town.
The operation was conducted after police were informed the group was regrouping to attack residents.
Machakos county police boss Gideon Amalla says the suspects are being interrogated for information before action is being taken on them. The Congolese nationals are set to be moved to Kasarani stadium for further grilling and possible deportation.
At least 7 people have been killed in fresh clashes between mungiki followers in Kitengela over land. The clashes are between mungiki factions which want to be in charge of their land. Police have since then arrested more than 20 suspects.
