Detectives from Gesonso Police Station in Kisii South have gunned down three suspected thugs at the Nyachenge area on Wednesday evening.

Kisii County Commander Charles Kasses has confirmed the incident saying, they are still processing further details from the incident.

"There is a shooting that has happened but we are compiling a detailed report on what has happened."

An AK-47 riffle has also been recovered from the thugs who are said to be operating using a private car and a motorbike.

A police source says the thugs were being trailed for the better part of Wednesday and had planned to rob major businesses within Kisii and Migori Counties.

Those gunned down are said to have participated in a robbery incident in the nearby Suneka Market two months ago.

The thugs robbed a Supermarket and stole an unknown amount of money before killing a 61-year-old security guard.

A police officer at the scene says they have also recovered the Maasai Leso and other clothing that the thugs wore in the July 11, 2023 incident.

The thugs that operate in a group of six are said to be behind a series of robbery cases in Kisii, Nyamira and Migori Counties.

In the recent past, they have raided two petrol stations and stole unknown amount of money.
